PHOTOS
As for the photos- the clearer the better!
Photos taken in natural light are usually better than photos taken with flash, as they
will provide more details and avoid red-eye.
Photos taken with a digital camera are preferable to those taken with your cell phone. They
have a larger file size and thus show more details.
Try taking a photo of your animal at eye level, not from above, unless this is how you want
your animal to appear in the drawing.
Make sure no important parts of your animal are cropped off.
If you’d like two animals in the same drawing, it is okay to provide me with two separate
photos.
It is best to send me a few good photos. Remember, whatever photograph you send will determine the resulting image. So choose a pose and expression that you want immortalized. Consider especially where the eyes are focused. I can crop a photo and focus on the head (preferred) or I can do a full-body rendering. I prefer to have several related photographs to choose from, in similar positions, including a closeup of the head. And if parts of the animal are cut off in the photo (like only one ear shows), make sure you send me other photos that show the missing parts clearly.
1. The photograph should show the head and face of the animal well.
2. They should show the animal in a pleasing pose that you are happy with.
3. Photos taken in natural light are much better than those taken by flash, especially to avoid "flashbulb eye," as the color and expression of the eyes is most important.

I will contact you, and we will discuss details.
Together, we will decide which photo to use a basis for the painting or drawing.
If you let me know a bit about your animal's character, that will be helpful.
I will let you know when your portrait will be done.
Generally, you will receive your portrait within 30 days after the payment date.
Should there be delays due to scheduling conflicts or during the holiday rush, I will let
you know right away.
I will email you a low-resolution image of your portrait.
Please review it within seven days and provide me with feedback.
Should I not hear from you within this time I will assume you are satisfied with the portrait,
and I will send it to you.
Please understand that there are limits to the kind of changes I can make once I've created an artwork. I may only be able to make minor adjustments, if any.
SHIPMENT
Your portrait will be shipped to you via FedEx Ground.
Your signature at the time of delivery will be required.
For works on paper, a shipping charge of $ 10 will be added to your order.
For oil paintings, the shipping charge will be more.
If you prefer Express shipping, please let me know.
Your Portrait will be sent securely wrapped.
FRAMES
I do not mat or frame the portraits when I send them to you.
The drawings and paintings on paper are made so they can easily fit into a standard-size frame.
Artwork is usually displayed with a mat. (An exception are the special handmade papers I sometimes use, whose irregular shapes look better "floating," not covered by a mat.)
You can buy a frame and pre-cut mat at very reasonable rates at any house ware,
art supply or stationary store. This gives you the option to pick a frame of your
taste that fits the surroundings in which the portrait will be displayed.
A 6" X 8" drawing, when matted or "floating," will ft an 8"X10" frame.
An 8 x10 or 9 x12 drawing, when matted, will fit an 11x14 frame.
An 11x14 drawing, when matted, will fit a 14 x18 frame.
Oil paintings, of course, are ready to hang or can be custom framed as well.
REFUND POLICY
Should you not be happy with the final result, I will refund you one half of the price you
paid.
Due to the custom nature of the work and the many hours of work that go into
making the art piece, I believe this is a good way to meet half-way.
GIFT CERTIFICATES
Pet portraits make marvelous gifts!
If you wish to gift your spouse with such an artwork, you may want to provide the photo yourself.
If, however, the gift is for someone else, I believe that person should determine the image and provide the photo they want immortalized.
Therefore, I believe that, in gifting someone other than a spouse (and possibly even then), it is best to present them with a Gift Certificate so that they may make the arrangements and wind up with an image they will love.
If you wish to order a Gift Certificate this is all you need to do:
- CHOOSE the type of artwork you wish to gift the person with;
- PAY the appropriate fee, including shipping if applicable;
- CONTACT ME that you are purchasing a gift certificate and the person's name.
You will then receive a beautiful digital downloadable Certificate, with the name of the recipient, dated and "signed" by me, that you can print out and present as your gift.
When they receive it, they should contact me and we will together arrive at the image they want.
Gift certificates are redeemable for one year after purchase.
They are not redeemable for cash and are not refundable.
